WELCOME TO FOX COVERT'S WEBSITE

JUNE NEWSLETTER

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are almost at the end of another very busy and successful year at Fox Covert.

There have been many exciting, fun, challenging educational experiences for everyone this session. We really could not provide the wealth of opportunities for our pupils without your support and generosity. I would like to thank all parents, carers, staff and pupils for their ongoing enthusiasm and hard work which makes Fox Covert such a great place to work and learn.

Change of Date for Whole School Outing

Unfortunately, since planning the whole school away day to East Links Family Park for Tuesday 24th June we have been contacted by the City of Edinburgh Council Children & Families Department in connection with reporting on the School Review.

It is a requirement that representatives from school staff and pupils attend a Council Hearing to discuss the School Review Report. The date of the hearing is on the afternoon of Tuesday 24th June. There is no flexibility on the date of the hearing.

We have managed to re-schedule our booking for Wednesday 18th June. Primary 7 pupils will have transition at this time. An alternative away day is planned for them on Monday 16th June.

Matthew Todd and Fox Covert Schools' Choir:

Both Fox Covert Schools would like to say an enormous thank you to Matthew Todd for being an invaluable member of our school choir staff. Matthew has worked with the choir throughout this school year, teaching singing skills and introducing many exciting songs to the children.  He has helped to plan and organise our sessions and our various school performances.  We are very sad to see Matthew leave.

We wish Matthew all the very best as he sets off to Glasgow to start his degree at the Royal Scottish Academy for Music and Drama.  Matthew is a talented musician and we know he will continue to do well.

The pupils and staff would like to say a special thank you.

Matthew and the schools' choir will have their final performance of the year on Wednesday 11th June from 7-8pm in the schools' main hall.

Class Teachers for Session 2008/09

At this time it is my intention that next year’s Primary 1 class be taught by Mrs Jacqui Watson and Mrs Val Hardie . I will confirm the rest of next year’s staffing as soon as possible. I am waiting to hear whether or not we have been allocated a Probationer Teacher before deciding staffing.

School Uniform Orders

School Uniform orders were sent out last week. Please return any orders into school by Friday 13th June at the latest. If you would like to check your child’s size before ordering, we have a selection of sizes available in school. Orders placed are non-returnable so please be careful when ordering. You should be able to pick up your child’s uniform on our In-Service day on Tuesday 19th August between 10am and 2pm.

P7 Leavers:

It’s that time of year when we have to prepare to say ‘good bye’ to our Primary Seven pupils.  Primary Seven have had an extremely busy year.  They have worked through a busy curriculum, continuing their learning in writing and maths, exploring new books, texts and authors, taking part in Scottish Opera, planning and organising their World War Two Tea Dance, sporting events, trips, to mention just a few things!

Fox Covert would like to say a big thank you to Primary 7 for all they have done to help us.  They have been excellent wet break monitors and have fulfilled their duties in the Tuck Shop and Assembly admirably.  We wish them all the best for their future at High School and beyond.  Don’t forget P7, you can always pop in and say hello!
