WHAT THE PUPILS SAY 2

Fox Covert Primary is a fantastic school and I know that I will miss it and the staff loads when I move on to high school! I have some really great memories and I am really happy that this is my Primary School!
Kirsty

I think Fox Covert is a really wonderful school-I have been here since P1. Everything is positive about my school. It is very safe, there are CCTV cameras in the playground and there are gates which are always locked during school hours. Our school opened in 1966 so it is quite old but we have had things replaced and it looks brand new. We have just had our heating system replaced. We also got combined black and white boards in every classroom about 6 months ago which are used a lot.

After school there is netball training. Taking the netball teams are Lynn Bremner and Jeanette Humphrey. They are really helpful. I have been going since the start of 2003 and already know a lot about netball. There is a P7 team and a P6 team. Netball is on every Wednesday after school and there are quite a lot of matches. I think we are a good netball team. There are some really skilled players there.
Louise

Sports are very popular in our school. We have netball teams and a football teams. There is a big gym hall and lots of equipment for us to play on and practice our sports. We also have a sports day when the schools get into teams, the yellows, reds, greens and blues. There are a lot of races and marathons and at the end the points are counted and a team wins.
David

For fund-raising we support three charities, UNICEF, CHAS and BETHANY TRUST. We don't support Red Nose Day as it is too famous.
We support an international, a national and a local charity which is not too famous.
Primary 7 fundraises for Dalguise. They hold a cake and candy sale to pay for the bus.

Fox Covert School is a caring, sharing school. It has eight teachers, a support for learning teacher and five Learning Assistants.
Sophie

The one thing we do which no other school does is have team days when we break up into groups of eight or nine with a P5-6-7 mix and do lots of activities over the day. At the end we add up the points and see which team wins.
Callum

In our school we have a library which Mrs Lewis runs. You can pick a book and borrow it. You can only borrow a book for a maximum of two weeks but once you hand it back you can borrow it for another two weeks.
Kieran
The P7s help around the school by looking after the classes when it's a wet break. They also run a tuck shop, a fruit stall and look after the infants in the playground.
Chantelle

Every P7 usually goes to Dalguise from Monday to Friday. The prices were too high this time so we are going for two long weekends instead, one in September and one in March. We will be doing physical exercises.
Rachel

At Fox Covert we're all friendly and we're all positive about our work. It's a very safe and happy school. Last of all we're very caring and share our stuff with other pupils.
Samantha
I think that team days are what makes our school stand out from all the other schools. Team days are when some of the classes come together and get mixed into teams. Then they go into a classroom and on each table there is a task. All the tasks in our team days are excellent and great fun to do. All the team days that our school has held have a theme. Some of the themes were music, science, Easter and Christmas and Tam o' Shanter. The team days that we have play quite a big part in our school life.
Emma

Primary 7 does a morning run, so that we are ready for the day. A lot of classes do brain breaks, when you have a thinker in the middle of work. A brain break can be all sorts of things, e.g. pick one of your spelling words and draw it on a partner's back and see if they can guess what one it is. Or you can close your eyes, put your two index fingers in the air together, draw a big circle in the air and see if your fingers end up together.
Fiona

We are very good at performing shows and assemblies. We do three shows and three church services a year. Assemblies are on Fridays.
We do a lot for charities such as C.H.A.S, U.N.I.C.E.F and the Bethany Trust. I hope you like the sound of our school and will see it in future.
Christopher

We have two playgrounds; the infant playground which is for P1 and P2 and the upper playground which is for everyone else. The big playground has a large field with an adventure playground. It also has a chess board on the tarmac with chess pieces, and we have five picnic tables. We have a quiet corner which is a corner with benches and wooden seats in it. The Infant playground has a quiet corner, picnic tables and a small field. The infant playground is also used as a netball pitch.

School Council

Primary three and upwards all have two school councillors, who report back to Mrs Lamont all the ideas and worries of their class. Council meetings are usually held every term, during lunchtimes.
The main subjects we are usually told to think about include: how to keep the school playground happy and safe, what we can do to improve the school and any other things
on our minds.
The Primary seven school councillors are also investigating Fox Covert RC school's enterprise at the moment, and reporting back to Mrs Lamont.
It is quite a big responsibility being a school councillor, as you are trying to make sure everyone's opinions and feelings are heard, and that everybody feels safe and happy.
So every child at Fox Covert, remember. If you ever have something to say involving
our school, tell a councillor and we will make sure something is done!

Kirsty and Dean.
