What the pupils say
The adults in our school are kind because they help you in everything you do.
Unfortunately Mrs A. Lamont is leaving. We'll all miss her and we wish her all the best in the future.
The teachers educate you every day and are kind to you. Most give you stickers or maybe table points. Playground supervisors are funny and always talk to you. If you get hurt they'll help you. They supply plasters for cuts and ice packs for bumps. The janitor is funny and helps the school. He plants new trees and helps rule the school. Cleaners keep our school tidy and they hoover everyday. They clean the toilets and every classroom after we're all away. Mrs Hindle helps us if we're hurt and gives us a letter to take home. She is also a playground supervisor but is classed as an auxiliary. Miss Menzies our gym teacher takes us and exercises our bodies. She does different things every week such as jumping, dancing, climbing etc.
Our school is good and I enjoy every day.

Every class performs in a show every year. There are three different shows one for the infants, one for P4 and P5 and one for P6 and P7.
The infants' play is normally shorter and it is at Christmas. The play is on the nativity and it is very good every time. The P4 and P5 play is longer than the infant play and it is at the end of the Spring term. It is a different show every year. The P6 and P7 play is before the end of the Summer term and is great. It is usually very long.
We don't have a music teacher any more but we still do music, hymn practice and shows with a CD player.

Fox Covert's fabulous grounds are great. In the playground we have a lot of room and we also have an amazing field. At the weekend we sometimes play football games for the school. The quiet corner is a place for when you do not want to be bothered. You can go there so no one will bother you.
We also have a car park and an infants playground. The infants are P1 and P2. The older ones have a bigger playground which is really good. Some schools have a small playground but we have a massive one.

Our school is trying to become an Eco school and we have already received our bronze and silver awards since Easter. We are doing lots of things including recycling, composting and having meetings to decide what should be done.
The recycling that we do in our school is very good as we do lots of things including paper, cardboard and plastic. We recycle lots of paper as all classes have a paper bin and then P6 collect them on a Friday. We recycle lots of cardboard and when it gets collected the bin is always full so we do lots of recycling.
We also do lots of composting as we compost fruit and weeds. Last term our class did lots of things with Mrs Lamont. We put lots of bark in the quiet corner and planted ivy. So our school does lots of things to do with composting. Also the things we take out of the grass like weeds go into the composting bin.
There is also an eco school committee who decides what should be done to help us get our green flag. There is also going to be eco scouts who will tell people not to drop litter and to keep our school clean and tidy.

Fox Covert Football Team
The P7's Fox Covert School football teams are very good. We have two teams. Both always give 110% in every game. The coaches are Rankin and Graeme who are very good coaches with a great football mind. The B team's coach is John Dunne. If he thinks you could do better he will push you to make you better. The last P7s won lots of cups and we wish to do the same and win more cups!

There are two teams in netball P5-6 and P7. Both teams are good and have many skilled players. Training is on a Wednesday from 3.30 - 4.30. At training we do several routines to get fit for the game we play at the end of every netball session.
We play games every couple of weeks against teams nearby. Lately both P6 and P7 went to a tournament at Corstorphine Primary School. We both played 3 games. P6s got the same points as two of the teams and got through to the final by goal difference which was held at the Corstorphine Fair at 9.30 am. The P7s also got through. P6 won and we were presented with a shield at the Fair.
At the end of the year after Sports Day when everyone goes into the hall, 'Player of the Year' and 'Most Improved' player awards get presented to players voted by the other netballers in the teams.
Hope you read this and decide to join.

Every year the headteacher declares a Health Week for the school. The whole week is dedicated to health and safety and the classes have visits from different types of people to talk about different topics. This year it was from 15th to 19th May.
On 15th May, Primaries 3,4 and 5 had a visit from a fireman who talked to them about fire safety. He told them how to react to a fire, what not to do and finally took them inside a fire engine to show them around.
On 16th, Primary 6 had a talk from a police woman who talked to them about alcohol. She listed different types of alcohol and said how it can effect your brain. Finally she let us try on drunk glasses. The glasses fuzzed up your vision and as a test we had to walk one foot in front of the other. Most of the time we fell over!
She then went to talk to Primary 7 about drugs.
On 18th Chest, Heart and Stroke came in to give every class a talk on healthy eating and a workout. The workout exercised different parts of your body doing different things. It constited of stretching, jumping and running. The workout was short but made a great end to the health week.

Foxcovert is doing house points. They are really good and I think they make people behave much better.
House points work like this. When you are lining up to come inside the teachers will choose a line, like the blues, reds, greens or yellows to put up a house point, but it is not just in the lines you can get house points. You can also earn housepoints by holding doors for teachers and using good manners.

JRSO
JRSO means Junior Road Safety Officer. There are two JRSO officers who are Andrew and Jade and two helpers who are Laura and David. They meet with a police officer called Monique every few months. They do lots to help younger children, for example helping them cross the road safely.
We have a notice board outside the tuck shop and do competitions to help others learn in a fun way. There are things like joining the dots to make a seatbelt and designing a brightly coloured shoe.
We have lots of posters on our notice board and give out lots of prizes for the winners and the runners up of the competitions.

Fox Covert is a really big building and it is bigger than some schools in Edinburgh. Our gym hall and our dinner hall are also pretty big. In our dinner hall there is a good selection of tasty and healthy food and we also have a lovely school packed lunch. All of the schools classrooms are big and spacious. Our computer room is really cool. It has 7 computers and 5 laptops. Also our library has a brilliant selection of new and classic books. The second you step into our school you will love it and you will see much more brightness in your life.
